Equipment

Ingredients

  • ½ cup milk (any kind)
  • ¼ cup plain nonfat Greek yogurt
  • 1 Medjool date (pitted)
  • 1 banana (sliced)
  • 1 cup frozen blueberries

Instructions

  • Put milk, Greek yogurt, date, sliced banana, and frozen blueberries into a blender. Secure lid.
Place ingredients into the blender in the order listed.
  • Blend until smooth.
Start the blender on LOW speed for 10 seconds. Increase speed to HIGH for a full minute.
  • Pour smoothie into a cup. Serve immediately.

Notes

  • For this smoothie, you can use frozen banana and fresh blueberries for the same results. Only use frozen fruit, because adding too much frozen fruit can make the smoothie hard to blend.
  • If using fresh banana, avoid using unripe ones. They’re bitter and won’t taste good in the recipe.
  • To make the smoothie less sweet, omit the date.
  • You can add a small amount of milk if the smoothie is too thick. Be sure to blend it for another 10 seconds.
  • Smoothies taste best when enjoyed immediately or within 24 hours of blending. If you need to store leftover smoothie, use an airtight glass container and keep it in the refrigerator for 1-2 days.
