Equipment

Ingredients

  • ½ cup pineapple juice
  • 1 banana (sliced)
  • 1 ½ cups frozen pineapple chunks

Instructions

  • Put pineapple juice, bananas, and frozen pineapple chunks into a blender. Secure lid.
Place ingredients into the blender in the order listed.
  • Blend until smooth.
Start the blender on LOW speed for 10 seconds. Increase speed to HIGH for a full minute.
  • Pour smoothie into a cup. Serve immediately.

Notes

  • For this smoothie, you can use fresh pineapple and frozen banana for similar results. Just be sure to avoid using all frozen fruit, which can make the drink harder to blend. Use one fruit in frozen form.
  • If the smoothie is too thick, add a small amount of pineapple juice and blend for another 10 seconds.
  • You can substitute the banana with another fruit. To keep the smoothie yellow, use mango.
  • When using fresh banana, make sure it’s ripe. Unripe bananas have a bitter flavor.
  • To store leftover smoothies, place it in an airtight glass jar in the refrigerator for 1-2 days. The ingredients might separate during this time, so stir the smoothie before drinking.
  • You can use canned pineapple instead of fresh pineapple chunks, but make sure it doesn't have any added sugar. To keep the consistency of the smoothie thick, use frozen bananas instead of fresh if you're using canned pineapple.
