Equipment

Ingredients

  • ½ cup milk (any kind)
  • ¼ cup plain nonfat Greek yogurt
  • 1 Medjool date (pitted)
  • 1 cup strawberries
  • 1 cup frozen mango chunks

Instructions

  • Put milk, Greek yogurt, date, strawberries, and frozen mango chunks into a blender. Secure lid.
Place ingredients into the blender in the order listed.
  • Blend until smooth.
Start the blender on LOW speed for 10 seconds. Increase speed to HIGH for a full minute.
  • Pour smoothie into a cup. Serve immediately.

Notes

  • Choose just one fruit to use in frozen form. Otherwise, too much frozen fruit will make the smoothie harder to blend and make it too thick. For this recipe, you can opt for frozen strawberries and fresh mango for the same results.
  • If the smoothie is too thick, add a small amount of milk and blend for 10 seconds.
  • Don't forget to remove the green tops off the strawberries.
  • When using fresh mango (and using frozen strawberries), make sure it's ripe. It should feel somewhat soft and have a green color with reddish areas. Avoid using hard unripe mangoes, which are very sour.
  • Smoothies only last 1-2 days in the refrigerator in an airtight glass container. They quickly lose nutritional value and freshness so it's best to drink within 24 hours of blending.
